I never could think of a title for this piece (atleast not yet), but when I started it, all I knew was that I wanted a red background.
I've been into abstract, modern, and geometric art recently. In making this piece, I realized it takes an extraordinary amount of planning and precision in figuring out a pattern and corresponding color scheme that makes a geometric piece pop. Colors as opposed to a complex geometric design were going to be the focal point of this piece, and having a very simple pattern helped. I originally wanted to hang this piece over our red-orange couch (see here), but I realized that it was too small. We ended up hanging it near our kitchen table, and I couldn't be happier with both the way to turned out and it's placement. I wanted the red background to go with our overall warm tone for our living room, with a colorful pattern. This particular pattern was inspired by the book that I was reading at the time I painted this (and am still reading about 5 months later...).
